Engineering Manager

We are currently looking for an Engineering Manager for our very first location, where everything started - Prague!

In this role, you will be responsible for managing several engineering teams including planning and execution of product releases, helping your teams and their leaders to succeed and grow, improving our software development processes, and working closely with our lead architects and product managers to deliver the product features on time and in high quality.

About your Team:

The Engineering Team is the largest of all our teams with around 70+ colleagues. We have eight teams working on 8 million lines of code split into 1000 modules and delivering over 1000 new features per year. Although MANTA is a creature of the ocean, making cloud its habitat is one of our goals for this year, so our team is growing and we are looking for people that want to help in this big challenge, which is transforming our product into a SaaS. Our stack is in Java 8 and 11, Spring, Tomcat, Neo4j, Antlr, H2 DB, Mybatis, ActiveMQ Artemis, React, Swagger, Javascript, C#, Maven, Git, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes and Openshift. 

What you’ll do:

  • Preparing and executing release plans in cooperation with product managers and team leaders;
  • Gathering useful metrics and insights and assessing risks to make good decisions on how to improve software development processes;
  • Redefining the development process to better suit a SaaS solution;
  • Working closely with other engineering managers, lead architects and product managers to deliver the product features on time and in high quality and to discuss product visions and roadmap;
  • Taking care of people in the teams and their leaders, by supporting them in the achievement of their goals, and ultimately in their career growth; 
  • Being a Hiring Manager to further grow our development team.

What you should have:

  • At least 10 years of experience in software development, at least 5 of those leading people, and 2 years of experience as an engineering manager;
  • Experience with project management, agile methodologies and all phases of software development cycle;
  • Experience with product development (preferably SaaS, data oriented and/or B2B solutions);
  • Experience with managing people, setting up and evaluating their goals, supporting their needs and helping them grow;
  • Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering is a plus;
  • Proficient in English language and great communication skills.
