MANTA Santa came a bit early this year and brought us software release 3.27. Make way for new scanners, improved support for current technologies, and a few extras. Let me walk you through all the new things our engineers have prepared for you in this release.

New Scanners and Capabilities

We are always working as hard as we can to smoothly integrate MANTA with as many technologies as possible, and this time, we want to introduce new scanners as ready for testing: Power BI, Tableau, and OBIEE.  All these scanners are mostly used for business analysis, data analysis, and reporting. Adding support for such tools is extremely important, as business professionals can finally take a deep look into the organization’s data flows, get the most out of them, understand their data, and make better-informed business decisions so much faster. Not to mention regulatory reporting, which is also less stressful and more detailed with a clear overview of the complete data journey.  MANTA can scan Power BI, Tableau, and OBIEE, and optionally push the lineage into the enterprise governance solutions offered by our trusted partners.

We have also added a new scanner for the Power Query language used in Power BI, SSAS, and Excel, which will enable customers using those tools to benefit from MANTA’s unified lineage.

Just a reminder, if a scanner is ready for testing, that means we are looking for pioneers willing to try our new capabilities before anyone else. If you want to become one, let us know. Quite a few customers are waiting to get their hands on new scanners, so you had better be quick!

Additional Capabilities of Existing Scanners

At MANTA, we always shoot for the stars. Hence a new release is not only about adding new technologies but also about enhancing existing ones.

So, what else is new? SQL Server Transformations! Since previous releases made it possible to see detailed calculations of detailed expressions in Oracle and Teradata, we have continued by providing fine-grained visibility into your transformations in SQL Server as well.

Another major upgrade is DataStage scanner enhancements, which means that it has been already tested, and now we are providing further support for the tool. We have added support for parameter sets, which are used to define job parameters that are likely to be reused in other jobs and can be reused in multiple environments.

If you would like to start using the Java scanner, we have good news for you! We have improved support for that scanner and some of its frameworks, giving you more insight into the operational code and systems.

We Have Got That Swagger

We are thrilled to introduce Swagger documentation for our API. From now on, you will be able to access more interactive API documentation directly from MANTA, enabling you to try our API without any external tools.

Safe and Sound

As always, we have made a bunch of improvements to make sure that MANTA is working smoother than ever. We take quality and security very seriously, therefore, MANTA complies with ISO 9001 and ISO 27001.

We are glad that we have been able to bring you all these useful updates before 2019 is over. We are not slowing down though, and we are looking forward to bringing you even more amazing features in upcoming releases. Stay tuned!
